ABOUT US

This club is ran by a passionate team of writers, editors and creatives. The Westeringer Blog is a platform by students, for everyone. It’s a space where our voices, opinions, achievements and creativity come to life — beyond just the walls of the classroom.

Whether it’s sharing student spotlights, publishing thought-provoking articles, or showcasing art and poetry, The Westeringer Blog captures the spirit of our school community. We aim to inform, inspire, and connect — giving readers a glimpse into the diverse talents and perspectives that make Westering unique.

Mrs Claassen

Teacher in charge of the Westeringer

As the teacher in charge of The Westringer, our school’s official newspaper, turned blog, I have the privilege of guiding a team of passionate and creative learners who bring the voices,  and talents in WHS to life through writing. The paper is not only a platform for news and updates, but also a space where students can express themselves, share their perspectives, and celebrate the spirit of our school. My role is to mentor, and encourage these young journalists as they grow in confidence and skill, while ensuring that The Westringer continues to reflect the  heartbeat of Westering High school

Clint Gumede

Editor

Hello Westringers, my name is Clint Gumede, and I am in Shaw House. A little about me: I really love listening to music, and I also enjoy watching movies. My favourite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You, and my favourite genre of music is R&B. My favorite subjects in school are business and English. My favourite hobby is baking and cooking. I'm excited to be your editor because I see it as an opportunity to improve my leadership. What I want to bring to The Westringer this year is new, fun, and creative ideas. I really love journalism, which is why I became a part of The Westringer is that I see it as an opportunity to show my creativeness. And yeah, that’s it! I really hope you enjoy what you read on our blog.

Mireshan Lingham

Sub-Editor

Hi Westeringers, my name is Mireshan Lingham and I am your Sub-Editor for the Westringer 2026. I look over articles and edit them to make sure they look good, make sure no plagiarism or use of AI is there, and make sure it's the authors original work and hand over to the editor to finalize. Allow me to share you a glimpse of who I am. A member of the squash players, a Troop Leader at Algoa Sea Scouts and an avid Playstation gamer. A team player, team leader and competitor with a love for fun and laughter

The website was founded by the Westringer Board of 2025, with the support of a dedicated member who helped bring their vision to life. It was created as a platform for young, aspiring journalists to express themselves and showcase their talents. More than just a blog, it highlights the heart of the school — its students — by giving them the freedom to share their ideas, insights, and creativity across a range of topics.
